Polestar rolls out even more powerful S60 and V60 (pictures)

If you like fast Swedish metal, and not the kind you buy on iTunes, Volvo's Polestar models might be right up your alley.

As it has before, Polestar's releasing two different hopped-up vehicles -- the S60 Polestar and the V60 Polestar.

They're exactly the same vehicle, save for the fact that the S60 is a sedan and the V60 is a wagon.

Previous Polestar vehicles made do with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

This time around, Polestar's using a modified version of Volvo's T6 powertrain, which involves a turbocharged and supercharged four-cylinder engine.

Polestar added several important bits to the standard T6 engine, including a bigger turbocharger, new connecting rods, new camshafts, a bigger fuel pump and a larger intake.

The resulting engine puts out 367 horsepower and 347 pound-feet of torque.

The sole drivetrain option is an eight-speed automatic mated to all-wheel drive.

Both the S60 and the V60 will hustle to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

Top speed for both cars is an electronically limited 155 mph.

Volvo also rolled out a new wheel design, a Polestar-tweaked power steering system and 371-millimeter slotted brake discs.

The cars are also lighter this year -- almost 100 pounds lighter, in fact!

But that's not all!

Volvo's taking its Polestar-massaged vehicles global.

Previously, the S60 and V60 Polestar were limited to 750 units.

This year, production capacity doubles to 1,500 cars.

It's also expanding its availability.

Before, only 13 markets could pick up one of these bad boys.

This time around, that expands to 47 different markets.

Yes, the US is one of those markets.

Volvo declined to mention pricing at this time.
