Volkswagen gets into EV crossover game with ID Crozz concept
Sporting some good looks and VW's purpose-built EV platform, the ID Crozz has a greater chance of coming to life than you might think.
I'll get this out of the way now -- I think the name is not good.
But since the Buzz was a bus, it makes taxonomical sense that the Crozz would be a cross... over.
The ID Crozz has two electric motors, one on each axle.
Net output is 302 horsepower -- 201 coming from the back, and 101 coming from the front.
It'll reach 311 miles on a single charge, going off Euro NEDC estimates.
Hooked up to a 150-kW charger, it can receive up to 80 percent of a full charge in half an hour.
It's lower and more compact than a Tiguan, yet the battery-electric platform means it has superior interior volume.
Its 48/52 front-rear weight distribution means it should handle pretty well, too.
The VW ID Crozz concept debuted at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Volkswagen hopes to put it in production in 2020.
