USPS, Oshkosh Defense reveal Next Generation Delivery Vehicle
Not only will Oshkosh help the USPS go electric with battery-electric mail carrier trucks, but it also plans to include "fuel-efficient low-emission internal combustion engine vehicles" as part of the contract.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has contracted with Oshkosh Defense to manufacture a next-generation postal delivery vehicle.
Like its long-suffering predecessor, the Next Generation Delivery Vehicle (or NGDV) will be right-hand drive to facilitate easier deliver to curbside mailboxes.
The new vehicle will also feature a slew of modern convenience and driver-aid features that should boost the comfort and safety of postal delivery workers.
The oddly tall proportions, for example, grant easier walk-in access to the cargo and cab areas.
The vehicles can be built with either efficient combustion engines or battery electric powertrains, helping USPS transition toward a clean, green fleet.
The US-built NGDV trucks should start rolling out in neighborhoods nationwide in two years.
