This is the Audi E-Tron. And yes, that's a bolt of lightning.
Here's the same car after the rather dramatic test, looking no worse for wear, amazingly.
Well, a few burn marks on the roof, but that's forgivable.
E-Tron is Audi's first, production, all-electric car. It's set to enter the market in 2019.
The car will do 250 miles on a charge and, perhaps unsurprisingly being an Audi, will offer all-wheel drive.
That range comes courtesy of a 95 kilowatt-hour battery pack, which looks like this. It's nearly as big as a king-size bed, and weighs over 1,500 pounds!
To charge it up, Audi offers a number of chargers for home, including this smart, wall-mount model. This will charge up the car in 4.5 hours.
This is the smaller, portable model, which would take about 8.5 hours.
But, if you use a DC fast-charger, you could get an 80 percent charge in just about 30 minutes!
This is just a prototype, with the full E-Tron not having its debut until later this year. Stay tuned for more details!
