Tiny Solo EV is a one-seat wonder

Manufactured in Canada by Electra Meccanica, the Solo is half the car you've been waiting for.

I love two-seater, RWD convertibles and own a 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata for pavement fun and a lifted 2001 Miata for pre-running. I race air-cooled Volkswagens in desert races like the Mint 400 and the Baja 1000. I have won the Rebelle Rally, seven-day navigational challenge, twice and I am the only driver to compete in an EV, the Rivian R1T.

The one-seat EV Solo by Electra Meccanica looks...small.

You'll get 100 miles of range from the Solo. Charging times are 3 hours with a 220 outlet or 6 hours if you have to use a 110 outlet.

The Solo can accelerate from a dead stop to 62 miles per hour in 8 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 81 miles per hour.

The Solo has two wheels up front, but only one wheel in the rear. Technically it is classified as a motorcycle.

Parking should be a snap in the tiny Solo. With a total length of only 120 inches and width of 47.6 inches, it will fit where most cars can't.

There is not a lot to the Solo when it comes to safety. While it has a back up camera and disc brakes on all four corners, the pre-production model has no airbags.

Yep. Still looks small.

The Solo should be available in the United States in 2017. It starts at $15,171, before any tax credits or incentives.
