The new US$3.9 million carbon-fibre Lamborghini

In honour of its 50th anniversary, Lamborghini has just unveiled the Veneno: a stunning new luxury vehicle, with a limited production run of just three units.

The Geneva Motor Show hasn't even officially begun, and already we think that Lamborghini has stolen the show.

The luxury automobile manufacturer is celebrating its 50th birthday — and to celebrate, it has unveiled the Veneno, a jaw-droppingly sleek, road-ready racing-style vehicle. Named after a legendary fighting bull, the car is meant to be a symbol of strength, power and vitality.

At €3 million, and with a limited production run of just three cars, it's one of the most exclusive vehicles we've seen. While it certainly looks the part, with a sweeping aerodynamic form, it has enough grunt under its hood — and wrapped around it — to make it a thing of beauty, inside and out.

Even if you have US$3.9 million kicking around, though, it's too late; all three cars have already been sold.

However, they can't stop us from looking...

The car's chassis and skin are constructed from carbon fibre to be simultaneously lightweight and strong, with a low, aerodynamic profile. Lamborghini said, "Every detail of its form pursues a clear function — exceptional dynamics, optimum downforce with minimal drag and perfect cooling of the high-performance engine."

This material has shaved 125 kilograms off the weight of the Aventador, bringing it in at 1450 kilograms and pushing in a power-to-weight ratio of 1.93kg/hp.

The Veneno can go fast. Really fast. Its 12-cylinder engine has a maximum output of 750 horsepower, and can reach 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds. Its maximum speed is a massive 335km/h.

The Veneno — front and rear — has been optimised for underbody aerodynamics and cornering stability. Diffusers encourage the flow of air along the car's body for maximum precision.

As without, so within: in the Veneno's interior, you can see the carbon fibre of the car's body, and the bucket seats are made from Lamborghini's patented Forged Composite carbon fibre, the fabric of a woven carbon-fibre material called CarbonSkin.
