The BMW X2 Concept is here, better get used to it
Welcome to the future, which consists of nothing but crossovers.

From the company that brought you such swoopy-coupe crossovers as the X6 and X4...
...Say hello to the all-new BMW X2 Concept.
The X2 concept takes a popular BMW formula and brings it down into a smaller package.
Like the X6 and X4 before it, the X2 Concept features a sleek roof line that cuts into both cargo space and rearward visibility.
Evidently, buyers prefer a crossover that looks like a coupe, instead of a crossover that lets you look out of it.
When this goes to production -- and it will -- it will probably be smoothed over with more traditional BMW design tenets.
Like other BMW crossovers, it features a bit of off-roading pretense that will rarely, if ever, be put to use.
The conceptual elements of the X2 -- the slim lights and exaggerated front features -- are actually quite handsome.
When it hits the market, it will likely slot in as a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class.
Until then, the concept will have to do.
