The 2017 Indy 500 pace car is a Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
It doesn't hold a candle to 2001's Oldsmobile Bravada, but that's all right.

This is the 14th Chevrolet Corvette to act as the Indianapolis 500's pace car.
It's the 28th Chevrolet to pick up the honor.
If that isn't impressive enough, General Motors has supplied more than half of all Indy 500 pace cars.
This specific model is a Corvette Grand Sport.
It has most of the aero benefits of the Z06, but it uses the regular Corvette's V8 engine.
The result is one hell of a bargain, with supercar handling for a price tag that isn't obscene.
We can't wait to see it in action.
The Indy 500 takes place over Memorial Day weekend.
