The 2015 Fiat 500e is a chic Italian car with an eco sensibility (pictures)

The 2015 Fiat 500e hasn't changed since its debut in 2013. It follows the styling model of the rest of the 500 line up.

The optional eSport package can be had for $495, adding black-trimmed lights, orange mirror caps, a side stripe on the body and 15-inch aluminum wheels with orange accent.

The front of the 500e is a bit lower than in other 500 models. The distinctive front fascia aids in aerodynamics and helps the 500e go 87 miles on a single charge.

The rear features a diffuser and a larger roof spoiler, also in the name of aerodynamics.

The short wheelbase of the 500e gives it an excellent turning radius, and the 147 pound-feet of torque makes it a nimble city car.

Storage space suffers in the 500e. A mere 7 cubic feet of space is available behind the rear seats.

The 500e can be fully charged in 24 hours from a 110-volt outlet. A 240-volt outlet will get the job done in 4 hours. Unfortunately, the 500e does not support level 3 quick charging.

The 500e uses a stand alone TomTom navigation system that is plugged into the dash, and directly into your sightline.

The 500e is pretty tech-free, save for the Blue and Me handsfree communication system.

A vertical push-button transmission selector takes up most of the center dash.

Drivers get information about speed, charging levels and driving style from the digital gauge directly behind the steering wheel.

The interior is full of inexpensive plastic materials, but the design is quirky and the use of orange as an accent brightens things up.

Rear-seat passengers will be quite uncomfortable, as the 500e loses leg room to battery storage.

Front seats are heated, but the system does not provide steady warmth. Instead it will cycle on and off, leaving you warm and then cold.
