Revamped 2019 Infiniti QX50 is one sleek SUV

The 2019 QX50 from Infiniti has an interesting little trick under the hood: a variable compression engine.

By expanding the piston's reach, the 2.0-liter engine can vary its compression from 8:1 to 14:1, allowing for both power and efficiency.

Total output is 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. 

The VC-Turbo engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission. 

The front fascia got a major update and now fits in visually with its other crossover siblings. 

The newly sculpted side-silhouette is highlighted by the new crescent-shaped D-pillar. 

The QX50 is also loaded with driver's aids, including the excelling ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous system.

The technology will not only bring the QX50 to a complete stop behind a lead car, it also keeps the vehicle centered in the lane. 

Inside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not available, although Infiniti says it anticipates wireless phone app interfaces will arrive in 2020.

Leather abounds in the interior, especially on the highest Essential trim level.
