Polestar 1 PHEV looks sleek at its Geneva Motor Show rollout

A nearer-to-production version of the Polestar 1 debuted at the Geneva Motor Show.

The luxury coupe will feature a 600-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain. 

An earlier version of the Polestar 1 was first introduced on the eve of the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.

The Polestar 1 features classic big coupe proportions, including a beautiful pillarless greenhouse.

If that styling looks downright Volvo-like, that's because it is. The 1 was originally slated to be a Volvo, but instead became Polestar's first stand-alone model.

Set to be built at a new factory in Chengdu, China, the Polestar 1 will be exported to the US, Canada and Europe, among other markets.

A conventional forced-induction gas engine powers the front wheels.

The rear wheels are powered by a separate electric powertrain, yielding through-the-road all-wheel drive.

Polestar will offer the car for outright purchase or via subscription.

The Polestar 1 is a plug-in hybrid, but it features a massive 34-kWh battery pack, enough for a 93-mile range on electric-only power.
