Lincoln not only scrapped its model names when it went to its new MK-model naming, it also scrapped most of its old models. The MKS is a new large luxury car from Lincoln, with tech niceties such as rain-sensing wipers and adaptive headlights. It gets power from a 3.7-liter V-6 which gets an EPA-rated 17mpg city and 24mpg highway, along with a clean ULEV II emissions rating.

The MKS has a dual-pane moonroof, which includes a fixed glass panel over the rear passengers. Although it has a smart key, it also has a heat-sensitive keypad incorporated into the driver-side B-pillar, which unlocks the car.

The cabin includes technology from partners such as Microsoft, Sirius, and THX. The THX audio system is one of the best available, producing excellent sound across the spectrum.

The incorporation of Sirius TravelLink into the car's head unit makes five day weather forecasts available. There is also a weather map, which shows rain and other meteorological data in any region around the U.S. Traffic reporting is also built into the system.

Sirius TravelLink also includes a gas prices feature, which lists nearby gas stations and their price per gallon. On this detail screen you can see an individual gas station's location and price for all grades of gas.

The graphical interface for Ford Sync's Bluetooth cell phone integration has been given an update over current styles from other Ford product models. We like the tabbed menu structure to the left as well as the aesthetics.

As this screen shows, the MKS will have a built-in hard drive with space for music. But with Sync, you can also plug in an iPod or other MP3 player and access all of your music by voice command or the touch-screen.

For the music portion of Sirius satellite radio, the system gives a graphically richer experience than other cars, with logos for each channel.
