Photos: 2009 Nissan Murano
Nissan's popular crossover gets a facelift for the 2009 model year. Making its world debut at the 2007 Los Angles auto show, the new Murano feature a new look inside and out with some bold exterior styling and interior that Nissan describes as a "mobile suite". Under the hood, the standard 3.5-liter V-6 gets a minor tweaking, and is mated to a new Xtronic continuously variable transmission, with two and four wheel drive options available.
Up front, the new Murano sports an ergonomic visor-like grille with integrated headlights. Other design upgrades include a new hood, more pronounced wheel arches, and integrated fog lights on the higher-end SL and LE models.
In profile, the difference between the new Murano and its predecessor are clear. The updated model gets a more pronounced rear end and a more defined beltline. The new Murano rides on Nissan's new "D" platform, which it shares with the 2008 Altima.
Drivers will notice a difference in the form of a new instrument panel, a new tilting and telescoping steering wheel and some exciting tech upgrade for entertainment and communications.
As part of its Moonroof Package, the new top-end Murano models get a top-load power sliding glass moonroof and 2nd row skylight.
Tech options on the the new Murano include Nissan's updated navigation system, a 9.3GB Music Box hard drive, XM Nav Traffic, Bluetooth hands-free calling., and an intelligent iPod adapter. A rear-seat entertainment system is also available with a whopping 9-inch roof-mounted screen.
