Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept (photos)
Mercedes-Benz showed off a new concept at Auto China 2010, a further exploration of the coupe styling originally launched with the CLS. The Shooting Break Concept uses a wagonlike body with smooth styling.
The Shooting Break Concept was unveiled at Auto China 2010. The name comes from the term for a wagon used to break horses, then later used as a hunting wagon.
The headlights are composed of LEDs.
Mercedes-Benz refers to the Shooting Break Concept as a further refinement of the coupe styling of the CLS.
This concept uses a new engine from Mercedes-Benz, a direct injection 3.5-liter V-6 making 306 horsepower.
Taillights are also LEDs. The small hatch would limit cargo area access, and probably be widened in a production version.
The LCD in the dashboard shows the same interface as in current Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Switchgear on the steering wheel spokes and on the console shows a design more square than in current Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
There is no bench in back. The rear seats are the same design as the front seats.
The cargo area has a wooden floor with brushed aluminum strips, possibly an indication that Mercedes-Benz will generally be upgrading its cabin quality in production vehicles.
Compartments in the sides of the vehicle hold gear, such as a laptop.
