We were given an opportunity to drive every version of the new IS convertible, from the IS 250 C to the IS 350 C to the mildly-tuned IS C with F Sport accessories.

Three-panel aluminum folding roof

The IS C's power folding aluminum roof goes from hardtop to topless in about 20 seconds.

Packs much back

The IS C's rear end has been raised to accommodate the power folding roof. As a result, the tail lamps have also been modified for a more horizontal orientation.

New nose

Up front, the changes are slight. The lower grill opening has been reduced for a more severe and angular nose when compared to the sedan.

Technology package

The technology package features a new hard drive-based navigation system with Lexus' new voice command system. The system features Bluetooth hands free and audio streaming and standard iPod integration, all of which is piped through a fantastic Mark Levinson audio system.

A-pillar mounted tweeters

Tweeters are mounted where the door panel meets the a-pillar, aimed directly at the listener's head for optimal top-down sound quality.

Standard receiver

The standard receiver still sounds pretty good, benefiting from the improved automatic sound leveling. AM/FM/XM radio, an MP3-compatible CD changer, and an analog auxiliary input round out the available audio sources.
