Kia takes a stab at building a proper sport sedan
Four doors, two turbos and 365 horsepower add up to one exciting Korean sport sedan. Check out the 2018 Kia Stinger.
We all thought that it would be called "the GT," but Kia Motors instead chose to dub its new sport sedan the 2018 Kia Stinger.
It's a dumb name, but the sport five-seater boasts some impressive specs and a delightfully aggressive appearance.
Two powertrain options will be available: a 2.0-liter, turbocharged I4 and a 3.3-liter, twin-turbo V6.
The four-banger is good for a stated 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
However, the numbers that have everyone buzzing are the V6's 365 horses and 376 pound-feet. Kia is shooting for a 0-62 mph time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 167 miles per hour for the V6.
Also noteworthy is the Stinger's rear-wheel drive configuration with the option for all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.
Rounding out the performance firsts for the Korean automaker is Kia's first ever electronically adjustable suspension.
The model features the trendy liftback design that blends hatchback utility, a coupe-like profile and sedan practicality.
The 2018 Kia Stinger should be on sale here in the US late in 2017 at a yet unannounced price.
