Intel Mobileye's autonomous cars in Jerusalem

This is Intel's autonomous test car, developed by Mobileye in Jerusalem.

The car is a lightly modified Ford Fusion, really only augmented by a set of cameras festooned throughout.

Three of the most important are situated behind the windshield, looking forward at different focal lengths.

Others, like this one in the fender, look at other angles to survey the car all around.

Thanks to the small cameras, the car is very difficult to identify as anything other than a normal car!

A camera in the nose provides a close-up view of what's right in front of the bumper. 

Another, on the roof, looks back diagonally. 

Yes, the trunk contains a fair bit more equipment, but most of this is just for data logging. Mobileye says the actual equipment in a production car will fit in a space smaller than a shoebox. 

In the future, the car will also be augmented with laser scanners like this one, which will provide a level of redundancy. 

And the system can be easily applied to other cars, like this BMW!

The car handled the crazy streets of Jerusalem with no issues -- impressive!
