Honda Civic Type R TCR: A championship-winning track warrior
With numerous race victories and a championship on its resume in North America, the Honda Civic Type R TCR is proven platform to go racing with and costs just $172,000.
The Civic Type R TCR is a turn-key race car available from Honda Performance Development. This one here is campaigned by Atlanta Speedwerks in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series.
On the outside, the TCR features aero-enhanced composite body work, an adjustable front splitter, and an enlarged rear wing.
The whole Civic Type R package rides on 18-inch OZ wheels.
On the inside, the TCR sports a full chromoly roll cage, digital gauge cluster, data logger, tunnel switch panel and a racing seat and pedal box.
A fire extinguisher system is also included on the Civic TCR.
Suspension upgrades included Öhlins dampers, heavy-duty front ball joints, massaged electric power steering, and an adjustable rear antiroll bar.
The brake system is upgraded with AP Racing calibers that clamp down on enlarged rotors.
Power comes from a production-based 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces approximately 340 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. That's up from the the street car's 306 horses and 295 pound-feet.
Unlike the Type R road car, the TCR uses a six-speed Xtrac sequential transmission to route power to the front wheels.
