Say hello to the first pursuit-rated police car in North America.
Being pursuit-rated means the car is capable of a majority of police work, including (obviously) pursuits and high-speed response.
It gets its power from a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle I4, mated to an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.
It's programmed to use the battery by itself, as frequently as possible, at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour.
Ford will start taking orders for the Police Responder Hybrid Sedan this spring, and deliveries should start next summer.
