The M Performance five-series is like a baby M5.
New for 2018 is the BMW M550i xDrive. BMW is nothing if not thorough in its nomenclature.
A 4.4-liter V8 engine puts out 456 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
Power goes to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The all-wheel drive system keeps the torque biased towards the rear.
A rear deck spoiler compliments the rear fascia of the M550i.
BMW claims the M550i can go from 0-60 mph in four seconds. Yowza!
There are some M Performance design accents on the front air intakes in a grey metallic finish paint, which is carried over to the mirror caps and grille frame.
The interior of the 2018 M550i is pretty much what you'll find on the current five series.
Door plates. In case you forget what you're driving.
I swear there are two turbochargers under there.
No word on pricing yet, but the 2018 BMW M550i xDrive should be at dealers in spring 2017. Scroll through for more photos of this German sport sedan.
