2010 Alfa Romeo Pandion

Styled by Bertone on a modern 8C chassis, the Pandion was commissioned by Alfa to commemorate their 100th anniversary and sports 12-foot doors that scissor up on the rear wheels' axis. It was displayed at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours in a special class celebrating Alfa's centenary.

2009 Bertone Mantide

Another Bertone creation on an existing chassis, in this case the 2009 Corvette ZR-1. It's seen here at The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering, where it was in this year's Super Cars class along with a 2008 Mercedes-Benz AMG Black Series, 2006 Bugatti Veyron, and 1994 McLaren F1.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

Pebble Beach also hosted a new Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which recently claimed the title of world's fastest production car. Larger turbos (yes, all four) and other modifications push the Super Sport's output to 1200 horsepower, almost 200 horsepower more than the standard Veyron, and good enough to propel it to 268 mph although the planned run of 30 production versions will be limited to a mere 258 mph.

McLaren MP4-12C Prototype

Slated for availability in late 2011 as a 2012 model, the much-anticipated McLaren MP4-12C was among the cars on Pebble Beach's concept car lawn. Seen in the background are the VSR Concept Sports Rod by W K Cherry Design, the Lotus Exos Type 125, and the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

VSR Concept Sports Rod

Well-known former GM design director Wayne Cherry styled this concept around a custom chassis and Cadillac running gear. It was displayed both at Pebble Beach and the 2010 Quail, and appeared in 2009 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

Star power is always on hand at Pebble Beach and 2010 again saw Jay Leno and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger enjoying the festivities. Here they leave the concept car lawn after checking out the McLaren MP4-12C prototype.
