Chevrolet Tahoe RST goes above and beyond mere aesthetics

The Tahoe RST isn't one of those namby-pamby special editions that's little more than a new coat of paint.

That said, aesthetic upgrades do play a part.

The grille surround and door handles are now body colored, while the grille, mirror caps, badges and window trim are gloss black.

The Tahoe RST's optional Performance Package adds a 6.2-liter V8, good for 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

It comes mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, the second application of this transmission in any Chevrolet vehicle.

There are other optional upgrades, too, like a Borla exhaust and the red Brembo front brakes you see here.

The Borla exhaust adds 7 to 10 horsepower at the rear wheels.

The RST special edition will be shown off at the 2017 New York Auto Show next week, and it'll go on sale later this year. Pricing is still TBD.
