Chevrolet shows off attainable concepts at SEMA 2012 (pictures)

An eager Chevy fan could build almost any concept in Chevrolet's booth at the 2012 SEMA Show with a few trips to a local parts counter.

Antuan Goodwin gained his automotive knowledge the old fashioned way, by turning wrenches in a driveway and picking up speeding tickets. From drivetrain tech and electrification to car audio installs and cabin tech, if it's on wheels, Antuan is knowledgeable.

Chevrolet Sonic Dusk concept

The Sonic Dusk concept starts with a 1.4-liter Turbo Sonic sedan and adds only subtle upgrades. A ground effects kit here, custom Ashen Grey paint there, custom 18-inch wheels, and a jet black leather interior with contrast stitching. The Dusk concept would look right at home as a top trim level at your local Chevy dealer.

Chevrolet Cruze Upscale concept

This Upscale Chevrolet Cruze also keeps its mods simple, featuring only a custom three-piece body kit, 19-inch wheels, and Burnished Brandy Metallic exterior paint to distinguish it externally. In the cabin, brown leather trim with yellow accent stitching and a Kicker audio system class things up a bit.

Chevrolet Sonic Z-Spec 1 concept

This bright green Sonic gives us an idea of what a performance variant of this Chevrolet model would look like. A Borla exhaust helps the 1.4-liter turbo to breath better, while upgraded springs, dampers, and 18-inch wheels and tires help the Sonic to stick to the road.

Chevrolet Sonic B-Spec Sport race car concept

This example of the Sonic is ready to hit the track for some high-thrills, low-cost B-Spec racing. The Chevrolet OEM B-Spec kit with which it is equipped upgrades the ABS Controller, front and rear shocks, and sway bars. Plates are included to strengthen the points where the suspension joins with the chassis, and the air restrictor plate required by the B-Spec class keeps the racing competitive.

Chevrolet Spark 'The Color Run' concept

This Spark only needs to be able to outrun a human being during its duty as the pace car for The Color Run series of 5K foot races. So, its upgrades are limited to bright graphics, 15-inch wheels, and a custom interior. The 1.2-liter Ecotec engine is untouched.

This sinister Spark concept features black paint, black graphics, and blacked-out lights and windows. It's the sort of car that Batman would drive if he needed a golf cart.

This yellow Spark was built to participate in the Cover the World music showcase in which artists from around the world all covered the same song. "What song," you ask? "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Tony Stewart show car

The Camaro ZL1 is a pretty tough car to begin with, so all that this show car designed by racing driver Tony Stewart needs to bring it to the edge is custom paint, a "Smoke" graphic scheme, and ominous red LED halos around the headlamps.

Chevrolet Camaro V-6 Performance concept

This concept Camaro is hardly a concept. Most of its list of performance upgrades have Chevrolet part numbers next to them, making building your own V-6 Performance concept as easy as hitting up your local parts department.

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Touring Convertible concept

When most think of the ZL1, they don't think of words like "comfort" or "cruiser." Fortunately, someone at Chevrolet is, which is how we ended up with this ZL1 Touring concept in that amazingly deep shade of green.

Build this baby. At the very least, make that shade of green an option for future Camaros.

Guy Fieri 427 Corvette Convertible concept

This black and yellow Corvette echoes its designer's signature hair style. No, I'm not talking about Brian Tong. I'm talking about celebrity chef and restauranteur Guy Fieri. (True story: I thought his name was "Guy Ferrari" for years!)

Chevrolet Avalanche Ski concept

The modification list is short: custom paint, snowy graphic, a roof rack full of skiing equipment, and 22-inch wheels with a "Knight Rider" chrome finish. I hope those tires are winter/snow tires.
