Cadillac's Escala concept is yet another cool flagship it'll never produce

Cadillac debuted this beauty at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week.

The automaker claims this will give us a look at the next generation of design and technology for Cadillac's lineup.

Fun fact, Escala is Spanish for "scale." Cadillac didn't just crop two letters off Escalade arbitrarily.

The Escala is about 6 inches longer than the current large Caddy sedan, the CT6.

The lighting elements are made of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).

The exterior is positively lovely, but the interior is pulling some serious weight, as well.

The Escala's interior contains three curved OLED screens, layered in front of the driver.

Its central control module is a prototype for future production models, allowing the driver to execute "tactile commands," along with voice and gesture control.

It's powered by a 4.2-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which can drop down to four cylinders thanks to GM's active cylinder deactivation.
