BMW's 5 Series wagon is your latest basket of forbidden fruit
You won't be able to get one in the US, but it's an impressive car nevertheless.
A crossover isn't always the answer. Sometimes, a station wagon is.
This is the 5 Series Touring, BMW's latest wagon that won't be coming to the US.
It debuts at the Geneva auto show in March.
The Touring packs all the same updates as the new 5 Series sedan, but with way more cargo space.
BMW will offer four different engines at launch.
Gas engines at launch are a 252-horsepower I4 and a 340-horsepower I6, both of which come standard with an eight-speed automatic.
Diesel offerings at launch are a 190-horsepower I4 and a 265-horsepower I6. A six-speed manual is standard on the I4, with the automatic standard on the larger engine.
With the Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon on sale in the US, and the Volvo V90 soon to follow, perhaps BMW will change its mind.
Then again, I'm an optimist.
