BMW i3, Pedelec Concept (pictures)

BMW opened its first i-branded showroom in London, which will feature the updated i3 electric car.

The i3 is a170-hp EV that has an approximate 100-mile range and takes between 1 and 4 hours to charge.

The i3 seats four and is expected to be available with plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The i3 Concept uses carriage doors and lacks a B-pillar.

The i3 will contain three LCDs to provide the driver vehicle information.

The front row lacks a protruding center console and tunnel, and instead uses bench-style seating.

Bench style seating and a freestanding steering wheel will make it easier for the driver to slide over and exit through the passenger's side if needed in tight parking spaces.

Two BMW i Pedelec e-bikes can be stored in the rear cargo area with the seats folded flat. Bikes can be recharged while in the cargo area.

Short for Pedal Electric Cycle, the Pedelec is a folding electric bike.

The i Pedelec can assist riders up to 16 mph, and has a 16-25 mile electric range.

The BMW i Wallbox high speed charger can recharge the i3's battery up to 80 in one hour.
