BMW Concept X7 previews the biggest, fanciest BMW crossover ever

The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance, like the 8 Series and Z4 concepts before it, gives us an early look at future additions to BMW's lineup.

Rumors have swirled for years about BMW's intent to build a three-row crossover larger than the current X5. 

This basically confirms that it's on the way.

The "iPerformance" part of its name signals that it's a plug-in hybrid.

BMW didn't really give out many details on the powertrain, which is fine, because we should all be paying attention to how crazy this thing looks.

The rear end feels wide, thanks to that chrome strip running the width of the rear end.

Vertical elements in the front and rear bumpers give the vehicle a real sense of height, too.

It feels like it's the size of a house, but it's probably not that much larger than the current X5.

The interior is a work of art, taking BMW's current interior design to new levels.

A whole lot will probably change between now and production, but that doesn't make the concept any less striking.
