While Aston is known for its strong blend of style, luxury and performance, to create the new track-only Vulcan the company has turned its focus directly at sheer power.
GENEVA -- This is the Aston Martin Vulcan! It's on display here at the Geneva auto show.
Where most Aston Martins offer both sport and luxury for the road, the Vulcan is a track-only supercar.
The carbon fiber body and outrageous rear wing provide low drag and high downforce for maximum cornering performance.
19-inch wheels wrapped in race tires will grip the track.
This one happens to be painted in Aston's iconic green, but company reps say they'll paint yours in whatever color you like.
Individual taillight elements are just one of the outrageous styling elements on display in the Vulcan.
The rear diffuser beneath the bumper provides extra downforce.
Mirrors are too small for the road, but plenty for the track.
Beneath the hood is a 7.0-liter V-12 putting out over 800 horsepower! Extra cooling is provided by vents in the hood.
Side-exhausts vent just ahead of the rear wheels.
Its overall shape and styling is similar to current Astons, and is said to provide a strong hint at Aston's road cars of the future.
It's hard to imagine future road cars offering this much aerodynamic detail, however.
Aston Martin released neither pricing nor specific performance figures for the Vulcan, but certainly this will be one those "if you have to ask" kind of cars.
