Arnold's Mercedes G-Class goes electric with the help of Kreisel Electric
The former governor of California teamed up with the EV startup to electrify what might be the least efficient SUV currently sold.
The former governor has gone green.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kreisel Electric teamed up to promote Kreisel's electric Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
Formerly a diesel-powered Geländewagen, it's now powered entirely by electricity.
Under the hood rests about 490 horsepower's worth of electric motors.
The motors are mated to a 80-kWh battery pack.
The result is an electric SUV that scoots to 62 mph in about 5.6 seconds.
It can go about 186 miles between charges.
Using fast charging, it can replenish about 80 percent of its charge in as little as 25 minutes.
That's one hell of an improvement, considering the G-Wagen is perhaps the least efficient SUV currently on sale.
