2023 Honda Civic Type R Is a Little More Adult, No Less Fun
With a more mature aesthetic but more power than the previous generation, the 2023 Civic Type R is still about driving excitement first and foremost.
The Honda Civic Type R is back.
The 2023 Honda Civic Type R picks up a more mature aesthetic, except for the giant wing out back -- which, mind you, is functional.
Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4.
It produces 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
Those figures represent a 9-horsepower and 15 pound-foot improvement over the outgoing Type R.
Another part of the Honda Civic Type R that's grown is, sadly, its price.
A 2023 Civic Type R will run you a hair under $44,000.
That's a hefty sum, considering the Toyota GR Corolla starts nearly $8,000 lower, while coming standard with all-wheel drive and nearly the same power output.
When it reaches owners, the Type R will also have to do battle with the Hyundai Elantra N, which is down on power but also vastly more affordable.
