The 2023 Corvette Z06 pushes the C8 chassis to a more motorsport-focused extreme.
The mid-engine coupe (or convertible) features a new 5.5-liter V8 with a high-revving flat-plane crank.
The Z06's chassis is also around 3.6 inches wider than the Stingray.
The extra girth makes room for wider wheels and tires. The rear wheels measure 13 inches wide.
Larger side intakes accommodate a more robust cooling system for the LT6 engine and its eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Z06 outputs 670 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.
That's more power but less torque than the previous generation's supercharged LT4 engine.
However, the new Z06 has a significantly higher redline and makes most of its power at high rpms.
The high-strung nature of the new engine is the key to the rest of the new Z06's race-bred performance.
