2020 Nissan Sentra is now a legit good-looking car

The 2020 Nissan Sentra got a complete makeover this year, and the result is pretty great.

It's about two inches lower and wider than previous generations and gets just a skosh longer, as well. The larger grille is surrounded by available LEDs and is reminiscent of the Altima and Maxima sedans.

A new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine replaces last year's 1.8-liter four-pot and it ekes out 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque.

A new multilink independent rear suspension comes in lieu of the old torsion-beam setup, so the ride is smoother.

The power gets down to the pavement through the now ubiquitous continuously variable transmission. The six-speed manual option has been nixed, unfortunately.

The Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of ADAS features is standard on all Sentra trims, featuring automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist and rear automatic braking.

If you want adaptive cruise control you'll have to bump up to the SV or SR trim while the SR gives drivers the option of a 360-degree camera.

The in-dash Nissan Connect infotainment system on an available 8-inch screen is fine. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both here.

The 2020 Nissan Sentra starts at just over $19,000 while the top SR trim starts at a few thousand more.
