2020 Mercedes-AMG E53: Subtle sophistication
The midsize luxury sedan flies under the radar a bit, with poise and grace.

This is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan.
If you want a full-out AMG experience, look to the AMG E63 S. The E53 is a bit more sedate.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, pushing out 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
Power gets down to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The EQ Boost mild-hybrid system allows engine-free coasting, or "sailing" as Mercedes-Benz calls it.
EQ Boost can also get down with some fun, adding an extra 21 hp and 184 lb-ft into the mix.
Hands-on driver assistance features like route-based adaptive cruise control, steering assist and lane-change assist are an extra $2,250.
Unfortunately, the AMG E53 is still rocking the old COMAND infotainment system. Buyers may want to wait until 2021 when the new MBUX technology should come into the car.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG E53 starts at $74,795 including $995 for destination. However, the tester featured here comes to a whopping $97,370 including destination.
