2020 BMW M340i: A hotter, but not hottest 3 Series sedan

Following up the arrival of the new 330i sedan for 2019, BMW is following that up with a slightly more performance oriented M340i for 2020. 

Unlike the base 330i that uses a turbocharged I4, the M340i employs a 3.0-liter turbocharged I6 making 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.

The engine works exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

According to BMW, the 2020 M340i can get to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.

To improve handling, the M340i receives stiffer springs, thicker antiroll bars, more wheel camber, and a torque vectoring rear differential. 

A bigger M brake package is also standard on the M340i.

With optional adaptive shocks and 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, the M340i's reflexes are a notch above the likes of the Audi S4, Infiniti Q50, and Mercedes-AMG C43.

Visually setting the M340i apart from the standard 330i, it gets more aggressive bumpers, a gray-painted grille surround, trunk lip spoiler, and split-spoke wheels.

The interior enjoys standard sport seats, an M leather steering wheel, and aluminum trim.

The 2020 BMW M340i begins at $54,000, not including $995 for destination.
