2019 Volkswagen Beetle Final Edition: Until we meet again
The Beetle's reign has come to an end. To commemorate, VW gives us a last special edition.
To say goodbye to one one of the most loved cars on the planet, VW is pushing out two new trims for the 2019 Beetle. In addition to the standard S and SE trims, we'll also get the Final Edition SE and SEL.
The Final Edition is available in both coupe and convertible forms.
As an homage to beige and blue of the last air-cooled Beetle built in 2003, the Final Edition is available in safari uni and stonewashed blue. However, it's also available in pure white, deep black pearl and platinum gray.
These cool wheels hearken back to the body-colored steel wheels with chrome hubcaps of that 2003 Beetle as well.
Other Final Edition touches include bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, fog lights and tail lights.
Under the hood a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine knocks out 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission gets that power to the pavement.
The Final Edition SE offers standard blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, while the SEL adds front and rear park distance control.
While the coupe sports 15.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats, the convertible gets only 7.1 cubes. Got to put that roof somewhere, people.
There is only room for four in the Beetle.
The 2019 VW Beetle Final Edition starts at $23,045. Chopping the top will add about $4,000 to the bottom line. Keep scrolling for more photos.
