2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is a proficient plug-in
Subaru has sold a hybrid Crosstrek before, but this time around, it's a plug-in that also uses Toyota hybrid technology.
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid Starts at $34,995 plus $975 for destination.
Including destination, my tester rings in at $38,470.
The Crosstrek Hybrid pairs a 2.0-liter, flat-four-cylinder engine with two electric motors/generators inside the CVT transmission that apportions up to 148 horsepower to all four wheels.
With the 8.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery fully charged, you can get as much as 17 miles of all-electric range at up to 90 MPGe.
There's enough space inside the Crosstrek Hybrid for up to five occupants.
An 8-inch StarLink infotainment touchscreen comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The battery under the cargo floor means just 15.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and only 43.1 cubic feet with the second row folded.
Standard driver-assistance features include collision-mitigation braking, lane-keep assist and cross-traffic alert, as well as adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams.
