2019 Ram 1500 bulks up capabilities and efficiency, not weight
Ram's all-new 2019 1500 debuts with new looks, more efficient powertrains and a host of technology features.
The 2019 Ram 1500 makes its world debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.
The 2019 Ram 1500's new frame is constructed from 98 percent high-strength steel. Compared to the outgoing model's frame, the new one is 100 pounds lighter.
The 2019 Ram Rebel receives powder-coated metal bumpers, a specific grille and hood vents.
Max payload increases to 2,300 pounds, while max trailer tow ratings is up to 12,750 pounds.
Serving as the base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 that is paired with a mild hybrid system to increase fuel efficiency and torque. Up to 90 pound-feet of additional torque is available with the eTorque mild hybrid system.
The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with an eTorque mild hybrid system is also available, offering up to 130 pound-feet of additional twist.
Working with both confirmed engines is a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
Handling infotainment is the fourth-generation Uconnect system available with a 12-inch configurable touchscreen display.
The 12-inch screen featuring split-screen capabilities enable users to run two applications at the same time.
The Ram 1500 will also be available with 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.
The 2019 Ram 1500 will offer an optional 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
