2019 Genesis G70 comes to New York armed with a 6-speed manual
The upstart Korean luxury automaker hopes to topple its German sports sedan rivals with two engines and an available manual transmission.
The smaller sport sedan G70 showed its pretty face at the 2018 New York Auto Show.
The 2019 Genesis G70 will have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for a base engine choice. It produces 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.
A twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 will also be offered with 365 horses and 376 pound-feet of twist.
An eight-speed automatic will be standard with both engines. Rear-wheel drive is standard with all-wheel drive available with both engines.
G70s with the four-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox.
An optional Dynamic package adds a mechanical limited-slip differential, and you can even add Brembo brakes for more stopping power.
The G70 comes with five drive modes to adjust powertrain response, steering, engine sounds, as well as power distribution on all-wheel drive models.
Genesis hopes its smallest performance sedan will woo drivers away from Audi and BMW.
No word on pricing, but the 2019 Genesis G70 will be available this summer.
