2019 Ford Edge takes few risks
The Edge is a fine mid-size crossover offering, just don't expect to be dazzled by any kind of forward-thinking design.
The Ford Edge has been redesigned for 2019 and is available in SE, SEL and Titanium trims.
However, the newest Edge doesn't look too different than its predecessor. New wheel designs, updated front and rear fascias, different headlights and a wider grille round out most of the exterior updates.
All trims are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, putting out 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque.
An eight-speed automatic transmission puts the power down to the front wheels, although all-wheel drive is available.
With front-wheel drive, the Edge nets EPA fuel economy ratings of 22 miles per gallon city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. During our week we saw 25.6 mpg.
Every Edge comes with Ford's new Co-Pilot360 suite of driver's aids, which includes blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping tech, automatic high-beam assist and a backup camera.
Behind the Edge's rear seats you'll find 39.2 cubic feet of space, expanding to 73.4 cubic feet with the back bench folded flat.
Overall, the Edge offers a smooth, comfortable ride. It's a great commuter car, and easily eats up long stretches of highway miles.
The interior of the Ford Edge remains much the same as last year.
The 2019 Ford Edge starts at just under $30,000. Keep scrolling for more photos.
