As the first crossover SUV to wear the ST badge, the 2019 Ford Edge ST delivers a little more fun in a practical package.
The entire Ford Edge lineup was updated for the 2019 model year, but highlighting the changes is the arrival of the performance-focused ST model.
The Edge ST replaces the Edge Sport in the lineup. Compared to the outgoing Edge Sport, Ford says that 75 percent of the parts are unique to the ST.
Power continues to come from a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. However, horsepower increases from 315 to 335, while torque climbs from 350 pound-feet to 380.
Like the rest of the 2018 Edge lineup, an eight-speed automatic transmission gets bolted to the engine. On the ST, the gearbox gains an additional cooler and specific shift tuning.
Ford says the 2019 Edge ST will hit 60 miles per hour in less than 6 seconds.
The Edge ST returns an EPA estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
A unique front fascia features an even bigger grille with mesh insert to sharpen looks and improve drivetrain cooling.
Compared to the base Edge, the ST gets stiffer shocks, springs and a thicker front antiroll bar.
Brakes are also improved on base ST models with bigger rotors and two-piston front calipers. An optional ST performance brake package is also available for even more stopping power thanks to a specific master cylinder, front rotors and performance brake pads.
The 2019 Ford Edge ST is on sale now with a starting price tag of $43,350, which includes $995 destination.
