2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST: Gaining more street cred

A new Chevrolet Silverado debuts for the 2019 model year offering a new chassis, fresh styling and technology upgrades. 

A new-for-2019 RST model joins the lineup, offering sharper looks thanks to body-color bumpers, grille mirrors and door handles.

The RST can also be optioned with 22-inch wheels.

An updated 5.3-liter V8 engine features Dynamic Fuel Management that allows it to run on anything between two and eight cylinders. 

An all-wheel-drive Silverado with the 5.3-liter V8 returns an EPA estimated 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

The 5.3-liter V8 works with a slick-shifting eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Unlike the Ford F-150, the new Silverado only uses aluminum for the hood, doors and tailgate. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2019 Silverado crew cab can be up 450 pounds lighter, depending on options.

The interior of the new Silverado is also larger. The crew cab features 3-inches of additional legroom.

Storage is plentiful in the new cabin with twin glove boxes and second-row seat-back storage bins.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST crew cab starts at $45,995, which includes $1,495 for destination.
