2019 BMW X5 xDrive50i: A sporty, tech-rich family runner

The 2019 BMW X5 xDrive50i is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 456 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.

With peak torque available from just 1,500 rpm, the X5 xDrive50i accelerates aggressively away from stops. BMW says it can 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. 

The engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. 

For improved handling, the X5 can be equipped with an optional Dynamic Handling Package that adds bigger brakes, a torque vectoring rear differential and active antiroll bars. 

To the sound the part of a performance machine, a performance exhaust system can also be equipped for a deeper engine note. 

When driving around normally, the EPA estimates that the xDrive50i will return 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

When properly equipped, the X5 xDrive50i is capable of towing up to 7,200 pounds. 

Visual updates for 2019 are evolutionary from the previous generation with a larger kidney grille, thinner headlights and new corporate taillights. 

The 2019 BMW X5 xDrive50i starts at $75,750, not including $995 for destination.
