The 2019 BMW 5 Series lives large in a midsize package
BMW's midsize luxury sedan can surpass $100,000 if you check every option box.
The BMW 5 Series has been on sale in the US since 1975.
A 2017 redesign brought it into its seventh generation.
Aside from there no longer being a diesel variant, not much is new for 2019.
Base prices for the 5 Series start at $53,400 and top out at $74,450, but checking every option box can yield a $101,420 MSRP plus $995 for destination.
The base 530i comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
All 5 Series models pair their engines with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
According to EPA estimates, the most efficient gas-powered 5 Series returns 24 miles per gallon in the city and 34 mpg highway.
The 5 Series interior is spacious enough for five people with up to 18.7 cubic feet of space for cargo.
Standard driver-assistance features include pedestrian-detecting collision mitigation braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
