2018 Volkswagen Golf R is speedy, but subtle
VW's given the Euro-spec Golf R 310 horsepower and kept the look subtle. Could this be the ultimate sleeper?

Meet the 310-hp Volkswagen Golf R.
With a dual-clutch gearbox, it'll hit 62 mph from rest in 4.6 seconds.
A stick shift gets it there in 5.1 seconds.
The front and rear of the Golf have been given a refresh, so it looks a little sharper than the pre-facelift model.
Inside, the Golf R gets a new infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. It's standard on higher model cars, and an option on the lower end.
Unlike the Golf GTI, the Golf R gets all-wheel drive.
That gives the car a ton of grip.
Even though it's super quick, it's still as practical as a regular Golf.
So you can still put people and all of their stuff in there without worrying.
It's a fantastic all rounder.
