Volkswagen's new three-row crossover SUV will arrive at dealers this spring.
Two engines will be available in the Atlas, including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 3.6-liter V6.
The turbocharged four-cylinder engine will produce 235 horsepower, and be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Atlas' turbocharged four-cylinder will only be available with front-wheel drive.
A 3.6-liter V6 with 276 horsepower will serve as the more powerful engine option.
Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel-drive system will only be available with the 3.6-liter V6 engine.
To improve fuel economy, the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system primarily drives only the front wheels. At the first sign of wheel slip, the unit will then engage the rear wheels.
A Drive Mode Selection system lets drivers adjust the all-wheel-drive system to handle Snow, Normal, Offroad and Custom Offroad.
The eight-speed automatic transmission is supplied by Aisin.
