2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon on the Rubicon Trail
The highest ranking Jeep Wrangler crawls over it all.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the top dog of the Wrangler trims.
Drivers have their choice of the tried and true 3.6-liter engine, or a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The smaller engine features FCA's mild-hybrid eTorque system, which swaps the alternator for a small electric motor and generator for better off-the-line power. Regenerative braking resupplies the 48-volt lithium-ion battery and a stop-start system helps fuel economy.
In all, the 2.0-liter engine knocks out 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Rubicon gets a stellar approach angle of 44 degrees with 10.8 inches of ground clearance.
Every Rubicon comes with 33-inch BF Goodrich KO2 off-road tires.
Other off-road goodies specific to the Rubicon are front and rear lockers and a disconnecting sway bar for more articulation.
The final crawl ratio in the Rubicon is 77.2:1 for the automatic transmission and a whopping 84.2:1 for the manual,
The result is a Jeep that can crawl over pretty much anything.
The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited starts at $41,445, but our tester on the trail is $53,055. Keep scrolling for more photos this rocking Ruby.
