The Ford EcoSport has been on sale in other markets for years, but it's just now arriving in the United States.

The EcoSport is smaller than all of its other subcompact competitors, and rides on the older Fiesta platform.

This front-wheel-drive model is powered by a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine with 123 horsepower.

If you want all-wheel drive, you have to step up to a 2.0-liter turbo engine, which adds $1,450 to the EcoSport's price.

A robust Sync 3 infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine is only estimated to return a dismal 27 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with front-wheel drive.

Because it was originally designed to support a spare tire mount, the tailgate actually swings out to the left, rather than a traditional hatchback.

Projector beam halogen headlights are part of the EcoSport Titanium trim.

The 1.0-liter engine provides mostly adequate power, but it's super buzzy and coarse.
