2018 BMW X2: The kinda-sorta coupeover

While BMW claims the X2 is a coupe version of the X1 subcompact crossover, it really looks more like a tall wagon.

This is the 2018 BMW X2. The German automaker calls it a "Sports Activity Coupe."

I've always subscribed to the notion that a coupe has a sloping roofline and two doors. The X2 has none of that.

What it does have is a lower stance and shorter overall length than the X1.

And badges. There are many, many badges on this bad boy.

Under the hood is 2.0-liter turbocharged engine good for 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, as is an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The are 50 cubic feet of space in the X2, down from 59 cubes in the X1.

An available panoramic roof keeps the cabin open and airy, but taller folks may still be cramped in the rear seat.

Inside, the iDrive system offers wireless Apple CarPlay, but no Android Auto.

I Got an Early Look at Intel's Glass Packaging Tech for Faster Chips
Rahul Manepalli, right, Intel's module engineering leader, shows a glass substrate panel before it's sliced into the small rectangles that will be bonded to the undersides of hundreds of test processors. The technology, shown here at Intel's CH8 facility in Chandler, Arizona, stands to improve performance and power consumption of advanced processors arriving later this decade. Glass substrates should permit physically larger processors comprised of several small "chiplets" for AI and data center work, but Intel expects they'll trickle down to PCs, too.
