2017 Subaru Impreza is all new, we swear

The 2017 Subaru Impreza is built on Subaru's New Global Platform. It's a bit longer and wider, but the increase in size doesn't increase the weight.

The chassis is 70 percent stiffer than the outgoing model, improving the handling capabilities for 2017.

Under the hood is the same 2.0-liter, four-banger as before, now revised to put out 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque.

A five-speed manual transmission is standard on lower trim lines, but more fancy models are only available with a continuously variable transmission.

The Impreza is available in a sedan or five-door hatchback. Most people opt for the hatch for its utility and sporty looks.

Cargo space is up to 55 cubic feet with the rear sets folded down.

A split tailllight housing design makes the fifth door opening four inches wider than last year.

All-wheel drive is standard, making the Impreza great for folks who commute in bad weather.

The available heated front seats can warm your buns with the best of them.

The interior leans more towards form than function.
