2017 Porsche Macan Turbo with Performance Packages delivers peerless agility for a price

The Macan Turbo with Performance Package brings 440 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque to the sport compact SUV party.

Despite being optioned with 21-inch wheels with watchband summer rubber, the ride isn't terrible, it's just firm.

Sapphire Blue Metallic paint is an optional extra, but it looks worth it.

0-60 mph hits in 4.2 seconds (-0.2 seconds quicker than a regular Turbo) and top speed is let out to 169 mph (+5 mph).

This black leather example is stereotypically Teutonic in looks, but livelier color treatments are available.

Like other modern Porsches, the Macan has a high-set, rising transmission tunnel that creates a cockpit-like feel. 

This twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 is yoked to Porsche's well-known 7-speed PDK gearbox.

Bi-Xenon dynamic cornering headlights are standard on this model.

Lozenge-shaped LED taillamps look good out back.

These are 21-inch Porsche 911 Turbo-design wheels, and they're a $3,300 option.

A switchable exhaust allows for pops and burbles on overrun.

Strangely, Porsche didn't add "With Performance Package" script lettering on the rear liftgate.

The Macan offers 17.7 cubic-feet of cargo space with the seats up or 53 with them stowed.

Believe it or not, even at this price, you have to pay extra for keyless go, which feels a bit ridiculous.
